A yearly event conducted by Hope Community Services to provide
an avenue for the elderly here in Singapore to receive a day of fun,
joy and of course daily necessities by given them food coupons.
(Previous years, they would received cans and rice but Hope
Community realized that it’s very difficult for them to carry these
heavy things back)

Nevertheless the event was a great success with many elderly supporting
the different items specifically made for them. From song items to magic
shows to even a simple workout which the guests readily stood up and
joined in.

Those  who have attended thanked the helpers who helped to served food
and drinks and some were their first time attending such an event made
especially for them mentioned that they are surprised that such events
happened before and wishes to attend the event next year.

At the end of the day, everyone who is at the barrage may be tired from
such a long day, but importantly, both the guests and helpers enjoyed
themselves throughly. With happy faces and vigorous waves of hands
the guests left the place in the catered bus.

The trip to shanghai is indeed a well-deserved break for me. The cold temperature
which cannot be felt in Singapore, ever, is an experience worth the cash forked out.
I have the honor of having a good friend with me on this trip and though we were
like trembling in the cold and despite the bad cold I caught during the last 2 days
of the trip, we’ve enjoyed the sightseeing.

We’ve managed to have a day tour around urban shanghai (there isn’t much
choice else we have to pay for the penalty anyway) and at a certain location,
there were activist promoting World Aids Day and were giving out boxes
(literally) of state issued condoms. Our tour guide pushes us into the line
saying “Get it! Get them!”

It’s indeed a very different sight.

This is the second year that a “CandleLight Service” is held during the Christmas
Period (Probably the members who attended the last one were pretty excited and
are looking forward to the next one).

Lights were dimmed and eventually turned off at about 730pm when the ambient
lights outside are darkened by the rising moon and the street lights turned on. The
first lighted candles were then used to light up the next candle and the flame was
passed on until the whole auditorium gives a warm yellow orange glow.

The worship team continue to lead into succession of Christmas Songs known by
heart of the congregation.  And lastly, prayers followed to bless God, Singapore,
the church and all the families represented in the church.
